Running through February...

I know it has been a long time since I wrote here. Trace has been rather neglectful also but things have been really crazy around here. I was asked to run the World’s Best 10K over the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge in San Juan with the Ft. Buchanan team. Needless to say…I said yes and my crazy training odyssey began to shape up. I got up early, ran as much as I could while knowing well that I had less than a month to get to a decent time. To make things worse, I became sick on Valentine’s Day night and was out from running for about a week. My lungs are still coughing up all the junk I somehow manufactured during those days.

The run was March 1, 2009 and I ran it in 53:52 mn which was pretty decent. I spent most of the time avoiding people, stopping because there was no other way to pass them or plain ‘ol just trying not to be ran over by some a*hole that thought he was an Olympic runner. It was a good experience though and worth the next days of suffering and dehydration…

I must say that during the month of February our son Kabral turned 15 years old. He is a wonderful young man and I am very proud of everything that he has done so far. I am sure that we will continue to be amazed by him because he was more drive than most people I know. He got a new phone and text message privileges which I had carefully blocked until then. He is also getting an iPod…spoiled, I say!!! But I guess that we must give to our kids all that we could.

I also had a birthday…I turned 36 years old this year…it was an OK time. I celebrated my bday by singing like a crazy woman all night in my house. I hope that 36 is better than 35 and that things continue to get better and better. I feel healthier than I have in years. I have finally lost all the “Iraq weight” so I am completely and absolutely happy about that. I am working out regularly and my knees are back in place :)

Well, that’s all for now. I am heading out to a scuba diving class…pretty excited and kind of scared about it…I hope is fun…just another thing for us to do as adults.. Take care…

Peace!!!
